Indian Shooters Head to Lima for Junior World Championship

A team of 60 Indians, including 40 shooters, 14 coaches, and 5 support staff, is set to depart for Lima, Peru, to participate in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun. The event will take place from September 26 to October 7.

Last year, India won 17 medals, including six golds, at the Junior World Championship held in Changwon, Korea, finishing second in the medal tally behind China.

The Indian squad for this year’s championship includes several well-known names from the junior shooting circuit, such as Abhinav Shaw, Gautami Bhanot, Parth Rakesh Mane, Shambhavi Kshirsagar, Vibhuti Bhatia, Shardul Vihan, Sabeera Haris, Bhavya Tripathi, Harmehar Singh Lally, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill.

Mukesh Nelavalli will be the only shooter participating in two events: the men’s 10m air pistol and the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol.

A second batch of 20 shooters and 2 coaches will leave a week later as their matches are scheduled in the latter half of the championship.
