Indian Rugby Teams Compete in Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy
The Indian men’s and women’s rugby teams are gearing up to compete in the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy in Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 4 and 5. The women’s team aims to turn their silver medal streak into gold, while the men’s team seeks to improve on last year’s fifth-place finish.
Team Leadership and Preparation
Shikha Yadav and Mohit Khatri have been named captains of the women’s and men’s teams, respectively. Both teams departed for Nepal on October 2 after an intensive training camp in Kolkata, led by new Indian 7s Head Coach, Waisale Serevi.
Goals and Expectations
Rahul Bose, President of the Indian Rugby Football Union, expressed the teams’ ambition to progress from the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy to the Asia Rugby Sevens Series. He congratulated the selected players and wished them success.

The men’s team will face Bangladesh in their opening match on Friday, while the women’s team will compete against Sri Lanka.
