Indian Railways to Produce 10,000 New Coaches

Indian Railways has announced plans to produce about 10,000 non-air conditioned coaches over the next two years to improve passenger convenience. This includes over 5,300 general coaches.

Production Plans for FY 2024-25

In the fiscal year 2024-25, Indian Railways will manufacture:

  • 2,605 general coaches, including Amrit Bharat General coaches
  • 1,470 non-AC sleepers, including Amrit Bharat sleeper coaches
  • 323 SLR coaches, including Amrit Bharat SLR Coaches
  • 32 High Capacity Parcel Vans
  • 55 pantry cars

Production Plans for FY 2025-26

In the fiscal year 2025-26, Indian Railways will manufacture:

  • 2,710 general coaches, including Amrit Bharat General coaches
  • 1,910 non-AC sleepers, including Amrit Bharat sleeper coaches
  • 514 SLR coaches, including Amrit Bharat SLR coaches
  • 200 High Capacity Parcel Vans
  • 110 pantry cars

The demand for rail services varies with seasons and passenger traffic growth, influencing the annual Coach Production Programme.

Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu’s Canteen Inspection

Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, conducted a surprise inspection of the Railway Board canteen. He reviewed the facilities and services, interacted with the canteen staff, and emphasized maintaining high standards of hygiene and food quality. Railway Board staff expressed satisfaction with the canteen services.
