Indian Navy Ship Ranvir Visits Bangladesh for Maritime Exercises

On June 29, the Indian Naval Ship Ranvir arrived in Chattogram, Bangladesh, as part of an operational deployment. The Ministry of Defence announced that the visit aims to strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between India and Bangladesh through various engagements and maritime exercises.

INS Ranvir, part of the Eastern Fleet under the Eastern Naval Command, received a warm welcome from the Bangladesh Navy. The visit aligns with the Government of India’s focus on Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).

This visit follows Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s state visit to India from June 21-22. During the visit, personnel from both navies will engage in professional interactions, including Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE), cross-deck visits, community outreach, and friendly sports fixtures.

After the harbour phase, INS Ranvir will participate in a Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX) or PASSEX, a passing exercise with ships of the Bangladesh Navy. INS Ranvir is a Rajput Class Guided Missile Destroyer that has been upgraded with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, most of which are indigenous, highlighting the Indian Navy’s focus on Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance).
