Indian Navy Joins RIMPAC 2024 at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii
The Indian Navy’s P81 aircraft is taking part in a major military drill at Joint Base Pearl Harbour-Hickam in Hawaii. This event is part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 exercise, the world’s largest naval exercise.
Joint Base Pearl Harbour-Hickam is a US military base located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The Indian Navy shared on X, “Watch the #IndianNavy P8I coming in for landing at Joint Base Pearl Harbour, Hickam Airfield, Hawaii after undertaking Anti-Submarine Mission with @USNavy & other participating Navies during the ongoing Multilateral Exercise – #RIMPAC2024.”
Additionally, the Indian multi-role stealth frigate INS Shivalik, which has been on a mission in the South China Sea and North Pacific Ocean, arrived at Pearl Harbour on June 29 to join the 29th edition of RIMPAC. INS Shivalik had just completed JIMEX 24, a bilateral exercise between India and Japan.

RIMPAC-24 spans over six weeks and includes three sub-phases of sea exercises. These exercises aim to enhance interoperability and build trust among the navies of friendly foreign countries. Led by the US Navy, approximately 29 countries are participating in this multi-dimensional exercise.
RIMPAC-24 provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants, which is critical for ensuring the safety of sea lanes and the security of the world’s oceans.
