Indian Navy Helps Villagers in Flooded Gujarat
Porbandar (Gujarat) [India], August 30: After heavy rains caused floods in Gujarat, the Indian Navy sent teams to help. They were asked by the local government to assist in Porbandar and Jamnagar.
Two rescue teams from Porbandar went to Morana and Fatana villages with special equipment. They helped villagers move to safe places. In Jamnagar, rescue teams helped 50 elderly people near Bedi Marine Police Station and Jamnagar town. More teams are ready to help if needed.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said there will be more heavy rain on Friday in parts of Gujarat like Kachchh, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, and Porbandar. They also expect moderate rain in Surendranagar, Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Amreli.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel went to the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center on Thursday. He checked the preparations for the heavy rains and possible storms. He talked to District Collectors via video call and gave orders to evacuate areas if needed. Chief Secretary Rajkumar and other senior officials were also there.
Gujarat has had heavy rain for days, causing floods and making many people move to safer places.
