Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi Meets Bangladesh Leaders to Strengthen Defence Ties

Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi visited Bangladesh and met with several key leaders to discuss enhancing defence cooperation between the two nations.

Meeting with Air Marshal Hasan Mahmood

On Wednesday, Admiral Tripathi met with Air Marshal Hasan Mahmood, Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force. They discussed the strong ties between India and Bangladesh and explored initiatives for cooperation in training, joint exercises, and interoperability.

Discussion with Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique (Retd)

Earlier in the day, Admiral Tripathi met with Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique (Retd), Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Their discussions focused on enhancing long-standing relations through defence cooperation and aligning visions such as Bangladesh Vision 2041 and India’s Vision 2047.

Meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

Admiral Tripathi also met with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister appreciated India’s contribution to Bangladesh’s War of Liberation in 1971. They discussed ongoing bilateral maritime engagements between the Indian and Bangladesh Navies.

Admiral Tripathi’s four-day visit from July 1-4 aimed to consolidate bilateral defence relations and explore new avenues for naval cooperation, reflecting the strong historical and cultural ties between India and Bangladesh.
