Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi Meets Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka, Bangladesh – Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi met with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during his visit to Bangladesh. The meeting took place on July 2, where Prime Minister Hasina expressed her gratitude for India’s support during Bangladesh’s War of Liberation in 1971.

According to a post by the Indian Navy, Admiral Tripathi updated Prime Minister Hasina on the progress of ongoing maritime collaborations between the Indian Navy and the Bangladesh Navy.

Admiral Tripathi’s visit to Bangladesh, from July 1-4, aims to strengthen defence relations and explore new opportunities for naval cooperation. He is also scheduled to meet with Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy, and review the Passing Out Parade at the Bangladesh Naval Academy in Chittagong on July 4.

India and Bangladesh share deep historical, cultural, and linguistic ties, which have fostered a strong bilateral relationship based on mutual respect and understanding. In 2023, there were significant exchanges between the armed forces of both nations, including visits by the Chiefs of the Indian and Bangladesh Armed Forces.
