The Indian Navy held a special ceremony to say goodbye to the UH-3H helicopter after 17 years of service. The event took place at INS Dega in Visakhapatnam and was led by V Adm Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff of the Eastern Naval Command.

Many veteran officers, sailors, and their families attended the event to remember the helicopter’s important role. The UH-3H will be replaced by the Sea King 42C helicopter at INAS 350 to continue its mission.

The UH-3H helicopter was first brought to India in 2007 and officially started its service in 2009. It was known for its special operations, search and rescue missions, and helping during natural disasters. The helicopter’s crest, ‘Saaras,’ stands for ‘Strength, Valour, and Perseverance.’

One of the UH-3H helicopters will be displayed in Visakhapatnam to inspire future generations. A special plaque was given to the State Government to mark this occasion, received by K. Mayur Ashok, IAS, Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam.
