New Delhi, India – The Indian Navy paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata, a revered industrialist and philanthropist, who passed away at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital. Tributes poured in globally for Tata, who was celebrated for his contributions to India’s industrial and philanthropic sectors.

The Indian Navy recognized Tata as a champion of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, highlighting his role in promoting home-grown industries and fostering self-reliance. They praised his efforts in nation-building and social responsibility.

In a significant gesture, the Maharashtra Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, passed a resolution urging the central government to award Ratan Tata the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. The state government declared a day of mourning, and his last rites were conducted with full state honors.

Ratan Tata, born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, was the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and led the Tata Group from 1991 to 2012. He was also the Chairman of the Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust, two major philanthropic organizations in India. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.

Leaders from across the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressed their condolences, acknowledging Tata’s global respect and influence.
