Indian Navy and Air Force Send Aid to Myanmar and Vietnam After Typhoon Yagi

The Indian Navy and Air Force have launched humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations in response to the devastating flash floods caused by Typhoon Yagi in Myanmar and Vietnam.

Navy’s Swift Response

The Eastern Naval Command, in coordination with the Eastern Fleet and other supporting units, successfully loaded HADR supplies onto a warship in Visakhapatnam. The supplies include drinking water, rations, medicines, and other essential items, and are headed to Yangon, Myanmar.

Air Force’s Mission

The Indian Air Force deployed its C-17 Globemaster aircraft to deliver 35 tons of aid to Hanoi, Vietnam. The aid includes water purification items, water containers, blankets, kitchen utensils, and solar lanterns.

Operation Sadbhav

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar announced that the aid is part of Operation Sadbhav, which also includes support for Laos. The operation demonstrates India’s solidarity with the people affected by Typhoon Yagi.
