Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Plans New Campus in Dubai and Climbs NIRF Rankings

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is planning to open a new campus in Dubai with support from the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. This announcement comes as IIFT has made a significant leap in its NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) ranking, moving from 27th place in 2023 to 15th place in 2024.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, congratulated IIFT on this remarkable achievement and expressed confidence that the institute would soon transform into a world-class institution, contributing significantly to India’s growth in trade and investments. Sunil Barthwal, Secretary of the Department of Commerce and Chancellor of IIFT, also extended his congratulations and pledged full support for the institute’s research and development initiatives.

In recent months, IIFT has been recognized for various measures aimed at improving teaching, learning, research, and professional practices. The institute is on a path to becoming a globally reputed B-School with a special focus on international trade and business. It offers highly sought-after programs such as Ph.D., MBA (International Business), MBA (Business Analytics), and MA Economics specializing in International Trade and Finance.

As part of its new initiatives, IIFT is establishing a state-of-the-art Centre for International Negotiations (CIN) to provide training for corporates and policymakers. Additionally, the institute is setting up a Foreign Trade Case Study Centre (FTCSC) to develop world-class case studies and share Indian experiences in international trade. Various export promotion organizations, such as APEDA, have shown interest in sponsoring PhD students for contemporary research.
