The Indian men’s hockey team clinched a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, marking their second consecutive Olympic bronze. The team arrived at New Delhi Airport on Saturday morning, greeted by enthusiastic fans.
Manpreet Singh, a key player, expressed his joy, saying, “We feel really good after winning back-to-back medals in the Olympics. My daughter supported me a lot, and she is a big fan of Manu Bhaker, so she may join shooting in the future. Parents in India are also encouraging their kids to play hockey, which is very good. The team dedicated their win to goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who played his last game for India. Earlier on Thursday, a brace from captain Harmanpreet Singh and crucial saves by Sreejesh secured a 2-1 victory over Spain at the Yves du Manoir Stadium. Despite being down 0-1 after the first quarter, the Indian team triumphed in an electrifying atmosphere.
This victory marks the first time in 52 years that India has won consecutive bronze hockey medals, the last being at the 1972 Munich Games.
