Indian Embassy Launches ‘MARG’ Mentoring Series
The Indian Embassy in Washington has introduced a virtual mentoring series called “MARG” (Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance). This initiative aims to connect Indian students and researchers with prestigious US universities. Coordinated with India’s Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission, the program seeks to bridge the gap between students in smaller Indian cities and renowned US institutions.
Objective and Participation
The goal of ‘MARG’ is to provide Indian students and researchers with exposure to the latest developments in their fields, as well as opportunities for knowledge, career advancement, skilling, and research. Indian-origin faculty from top US universities such as Stanford, Purdue, University of Maryland, and George Mason University are participating in the first round of the series.
Inaugural Session Highlights
During the inaugural session, Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan emphasized the growing academic, research, and industrial ecosystem in India, particularly in critical and emerging technologies like Semiconductors, AI & ML, High-Performance Computing, Quantum Science & Technology, Bioengineering, Clean Energy, and Advanced Materials. These areas are also key to the deepening academic-research-technology partnership between India and the US.

Vice Chancellors and Directors of participating Indian universities expressed that these sessions would greatly benefit students and faculty involved in teaching, skilling, and research in these critical and emerging technology sectors.
