Indian Embassy in Lebanon Issues Advisory Amid Rising Tensions

The Indian Embassy in Lebanon has advised Indian nationals to stay in touch with the embassy due to the evolving situation in the region. This advisory is a precautionary measure to ensure swift communication if needed, according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

Jaiswal emphasized that this is not a travel restriction but a way for the embassy to stay connected with Indian nationals in Lebanon. He noted that there are about 2000-3000 Indians living and working in Lebanon, and the embassy is in regular contact with them.

The advisory comes in the wake of recent military actions between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Israel Defence Forces reported attacks on Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in various regions of Lebanon, following missile, mortar, and drone launches by Hezbollah into Israel. These events have heightened tensions and raised concerns about a potential full-scale conflict.
