Indian Embassy and Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior Rescue Indians from Job Scams
The Indian Embassy in Cambodia, in partnership with Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior, has successfully rescued and repatriated Indian nationals who were trapped in fraudulent job scams. The embassy has issued a warning to job seekers to be cautious of fake agents.
Rescue Operation Details
On September 22, the Cambodian Police, following leads from the Indian Embassy, rescued 67 Indian nationals from Poipet. The embassy is working closely with the Cambodian police to facilitate the repatriation of these individuals in batches. As of now, 15 nationals have returned to India on September 30, and 24 more on October 1. The remaining 28 are expected to return in the coming days.

The Indian Embassy continues to monitor the situation and is committed to assisting nationals trapped in cyber crimes. They advise extreme caution when considering job opportunities in Cambodia and other Southeast Asian countries through suspicious agents and social media ads.

Repatriation Statistics
Since January 2022, the embassy has facilitated the repatriation of over 1,000 Indian citizens, with nearly 770 in the first nine months of 2024, thanks to the cooperation of Cambodian authorities.
