Bhavika Mangalanandan, the First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, criticized Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for raising the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

India’s Strong Rebuttal

In her Right to Reply, Mangalanandan highlighted Pakistan’s use of terrorism to disrupt elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which she described as an integral part of India. She emphasized that Pakistan’s actions are hypocritical given its history of terrorism and rigged elections.

Historical Context

Mangalanandan referenced the 2008 Mumbai attacks and the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament as examples of Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism. She also mentioned the 1971 Bangladesh genocide and Pakistan’s persecution of minorities.

Pakistan’s Claims

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif had called for India to reverse the abrogation of Article 370 and engage in dialogue for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He accused India of expanding its military capabilities against Pakistan and taking unilateral steps since August 5, 2019.

India’s Stance

India has made it clear that it seeks normal bilateral ties with Pakistan but insists that Pakistan must create an environment free from terrorism. India has provided evidence of Pakistan’s support for terrorist groups at various international forums.
