Indian Defence Expert Anil Gaur on Pakistan Army Chief’s Kargil War Acknowledgement

Jammu and Kashmir [India], September 8: Indian Defence expert Anil Gaur has commented on Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir’s recent admission of the Pakistan Army’s involvement in the Kargil War. Gaur highlighted that this shows Pakistan’s continued focus on Kashmir, even after 75 years.

Gaur emphasized that Pakistan should stop viewing India as an adversary and instead address its own domestic issues like hunger and unemployment. He stated, “Now, after 25 years, Pakistan has acknowledged their army’s involvement in the Kargil War with India in 1999. This reflects that even after 75 years, they have still not given up on Kashmir.”

He added, “It is high time that the Pakistan Army stopped trying to match up with the Indian Army or viewing India as an adversary and look after their own people who are dying of hunger and who have no employment. The money spent on arms and ammunition should be diverted for public interest.”

General Asim Munir, during the Defence Day address on September 6 in Rawalpindi, acknowledged the role of the Pakistan Army in the Kargil War. He praised the sacrifices of Pakistani soldiers in various conflicts, including the Kargil War.

The Kargil War, fought for over 60 days, ended on July 26, 1999, with India reclaiming high outposts occupied by Pakistani soldiers. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on July 26 every year to honor the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the country.

General Munir also called for unity in Pakistan, stating that political differences should not turn into hatred and that efforts to weaken national solidarity would not succeed.
