Indian Cricket Team Stranded in Barbados After Winning World Cup Due to Hurricane Beryl

The Indian cricket team, who recently won the ICC T20 World Cup, is currently stranded in Barbados. A Category 4 hurricane named Beryl has hit the Caribbean islands, causing flight cancellations and affecting electricity and water supplies.

The team is staying at a hotel in Barbados as the main international airport is shut down. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is with the team, said they are stuck and will plan the team’s felicitation once travel plans are clear.

World Cup Final Highlights

In the final match, India won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite an early setback at 34/3, a strong partnership between Virat Kohli (76) and Axar Patel (47) helped India reach 176/7 in 20 overs. South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje were the top bowlers.

During South Africa’s chase of 177 runs, they were reduced to 12/2. A partnership between Quinton de Kock (39) and Tristan Stubbs (31) brought them back into the game. Heinrich Klaasen’s half-century (52) posed a threat, but Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya made a strong comeback, restricting South Africa to 169/8.

Virat Kohli was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his performance. This victory marks India’s first ICC title since the Champions Trophy in 2013.
