The soldier’s body was found with bullet wounds in a forest area in Anantnag after being reported missing. A joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and other agencies was launched in the Kazwan Forest in Kokernag to locate him. It was reported that two soldiers were abducted, but one managed to escape.
