Indian Army Honors Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Hero of Naushera, at Jamia Millia Islamia University
A wreath-laying ceremony was held at Jamia Millia Islamia University Cemetery to honor Brigadier Mohammad Usman, MVC, on his death anniversary. The wreath was laid on behalf of General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff.
Several retired and serving officers, including Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, attended the event. Brigadier Usman is celebrated for his role in recapturing Jhangar and Naushera during the 1947-48 Indo-Pak War. He made the ultimate sacrifice on July 3, 1948, and was given a state funeral attended by Lord Louis Mountbatten, Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, Union Minister Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, and Sheikh Abdullah.
Brigadier Usman was laid to rest at Jamia Millia University Cemetery in Delhi. He is remembered for his personal courage, leadership, and devotion to duty, earning him the Mahavir Chakra.
