Indian Army Heads to Mongolia for KHAAN QUEST Peacekeeping Exercise
The Indian Army has sent a contingent to Mongolia for the multinational military exercise KHAAN QUEST. This exercise aims to enhance the peacekeeping capabilities of the participating forces and will be held from July 27 to August 9 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
About the Exercise
Exercise KHAAN QUEST started in 2003 as a bilateral event between the US and Mongolian Armed Forces. Since 2006, it has evolved into a multinational peacekeeping exercise. This year marks the 21st iteration of the event.
Indian Army Contingent
The Indian contingent consists of 40 personnel, mainly from a battalion of the MADRAS REGIMENT, along with other arms and services. The team includes one woman officer and two women soldiers.
Objectives and Activities
The exercise aims to prepare the Indian Armed Forces for peacekeeping missions in a multinational environment, enhancing interoperability and military readiness. Activities will include joint planning, tactical drills, and physical fitness exercises. Specific drills will cover static and mobile checkpoints, cordon and search operations, patrolling, civilian evacuation, counter-improvised explosive device drills, combat first aid, and casualty evacuation.
The Ministry stated, “Exercise KHAAN QUEST will enable the participating countries to share their best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for joint operations. The exercise will facilitate developing interoperability, bonhomie, and camaraderie between soldiers of the participating countries.”
