Commemorating the 62nd Walong Day

As the nation remembers the Battle of Walong from the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the Indian Army is organizing a month-long series of events from October 17 to November 14. These events honor the bravery and sacrifice of soldiers who defended the Eastern front. Activities include white water rafting, motorcycle and bicycle rallies, battlefield treks, and a half marathon, reflecting the adventurous spirit of the Army. Medical and veterinary camps will support remote villages, strengthening ties with local communities.

Walong Day Celebrations

The commemorations will culminate on November 14 with the inauguration of the renovated Walong War Memorial. The day will feature a wreath-laying ceremony, battle narrations, and traditional dance performances. Infrastructure projects will be inaugurated, enhancing connectivity and security. A special ceremony will honor the families of war heroes and porters, highlighting the Army’s commitment to recognizing their contributions.
