Indian Army Chief General Dwivedi Visits BRO HQ in New Delhi
On Wednesday, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited the headquarters of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in New Delhi. During his visit, he was briefed by BRO officials on infrastructure development along borders and capacity development initiatives.
General Dwivedi appreciated the efforts of BRO in nation-building. The Indian Army shared this update on social media, highlighting the briefing by Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of Border Roads.
Amid an ongoing standoff with China, the Indian Army’s Strike Corps is conducting a significant exercise in the Ladakh sector. This exercise involves all major fighting elements, including armoured formations. General Dwivedi is scheduled to review the exercise this week.
The exercise aims to validate new concepts and technology infusion in modern-day warfighting. The Strike Corps, attached to the Northern Command, has been developing new warfighting concepts for high-altitude areas.
India and China have been in a military standoff for over four years, with multiple rounds of talks yielding little progress. The Indian Army has deployed over 500 tanks and armoured fighting vehicles in the region since 2020 and has rapidly built infrastructure. Over 50,000 Indian troops are stationed to counter Chinese deployments across the Line of Actual Control, ensuring no further attempts to alter the status quo. India is also focusing on large-scale infrastructure development to support troops and civilians in the harsh winter conditions.
