The Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps engineers have successfully built a 70-foot Bailey Bridge on Gangtok’s Dikchu-Sanklang road within just 72 hours. This effort was made to restore connectivity to areas that were cut off due to recent floods in Sikkim.

Challenges Overcome

Despite facing heavy rains and technical difficulties, the construction began on June 23 and was completed within the tight timeframe. The bridge is crucial for enabling vehicular traffic from Dikchu to Sanklang and further towards Chungthang.

Importance of the Bridge

The new bridge will help in delivering essential supplies, including critical medical aid, to the affected people in Mangan district.

Appreciation from Officials

On June 27, 2024, State Forest Minister and State Secretary of Disaster Management, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, visited the site and commended the Indian Army for their swift and effective work.
