The Indian Army and other security agencies have redeployed troops and special forces in the higher reaches south of Pir Panjal in Jammu and Kashmir to combat terrorism. This move is part of efforts to counter the Pakistan Army’s attempts to revive terrorism in the region.

More than 10 battalions and over 500 Special Forces operatives have been deployed to carry out search and destroy operations. The troops are focusing on forested areas to locate and eliminate terrorists hiding in natural caves and man-made underground hideouts.

The human intelligence grid has been strengthened with the induction of new police officials, and central police forces have increased their presence and activities. The security deployment and standard operating procedures in the entire Jammu division, including Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, and Doda districts, have been revised. All troops in the area are on high alert to thwart any terror attacks.

Local over-ground workers and terrorist sympathizers have been identified and are being addressed by security agencies. Measures are being taken to curb local support for terrorists through area domination and other strategies. The top Army leadership has discussed the terror situation and briefed the top leadership on the actions being taken.
