Indian Army and NGO Plant Trees in Tinsukia for World Environment Health Day
On September 26, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the NGO Parivesh Sangrakshan Samiti, organized a tree plantation drive at Hassak LP School in Tinsukia district, Assam. This event was part of their ongoing efforts to promote environmental conservation and community engagement.
Over 150 participants, including 70 students, took part in the drive, planting various native tree saplings around the school and nearby areas. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental preservation and inspire local communities to take action.

134 Infantry Battalion’s Mass Plantation Drive
Earlier, on September 18, the 134 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Ecological, also known as the 134 Ecological Task Force (ETF), organized a mass plantation drive in the villages of Gamani, Rihajuli, and Chattai Garobasti in the Sonitpur district. This event marked the Platinum Jubilee Year (1949-2024) celebrations and the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
The Territorial Army, a distinguished military reserve force, provides critical support to the Indian Armed Forces and civilian authorities during emergencies. The 134 ETF, established in 2007, has been instrumental in combating deforestation and restoring the ecological balance in the Sonitpur and Biswanath districts of Assam.
