Indian Army and Manipur Police Defuse 8 Bombs and Find Weapons in Imphal
The Indian Army and Manipur Police worked together to prevent a major disaster by defusing eight bombs in Imphal East, Manipur. The bombs, which weighed 33 kg, were found in an area used by farmers and cattle grazers. This quick action stopped potential harm to security forces and local people.
Earlier, on July 17, the Indian Army and Manipur Police conducted a 72-hour search operation in Imphal East. They found a large cache of arms and ammunition, including thirteen long-range mortars, rifles, grenades, and other war-like items. This operation involved patrol dogs and explosive detection dogs due to the difficult terrain.
Manipur has been facing ethnic violence since May 2023. The trouble started on May 3, 2023, during a rally by the All Tribals Students Union. They were protesting against the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category.
