A joint search operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Kowut area of Kupwara has resulted in the elimination of a terrorist and injury to a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). The operation began based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the region.

On July 24, vigilant troops observed suspicious movement and challenged the individuals, leading to an exchange of fire. During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralized, and an NCO sustained injuries. The injured officer has been evacuated for medical treatment, and the operation is ongoing.

Earlier, a soldier injured during an exchange of fire in the Battal sector of Jammu succumbed to his injuries. The White Knight Corps expressed their condolences, saluting the supreme sacrifice of L/Nk Subhash Chander. The soldier was injured while foiling an infiltration bid in the Battal Sector.

In recent months, there has been an increase in terror attacks in the Jammu region, including attacks on army convoys and encounters in various districts. The Indian Army continues to respond to these threats with vigilance and bravery.
