The Indian Army, along with Assam Rifles, Manipur police, and other security forces, conducted a successful operation in Manipur, recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition. This operation, based on specific intelligence, took place in the hill and valley regions of Manipur over the past week.

Details of the Operation

On October 7, 2024, in Bishnupur district, the forces recovered a variety of weapons including a Carbine Machine, an AK-47 Rifle, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, a 12 Bore Pistol, and a 2.5 Kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Additionally, grenades and other warlike stores were found in Gelbung, and two country-made mortars, two country-made pistols, and grenades were seized from the Kangvai Area of Churachandpur district.

On October 8, 2024, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in Khelakhong, Imphal West, led to the recovery of a 7.62 mm SLR rifle, a .303 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, grenades, and other warlike stores.

Further, on October 9, 2024, the forces seized an M-16 rifle, two SLRs, a .22 rifle, a country-made Sten gun, two carbines, eight 9 mm country-made pistols, ammunition, grenades, and warlike stores from Champai, Sagolmang, in Imphal East district.
