Indian Army and Assam Rifles Recover Weapons and Explosives in Manipur

In a series of successful joint operations, the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police, along with other security forces, have recovered 23 weapons, 52.5 kg of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), ammunition, and warlike stores from various districts across Manipur.

Key Operations

Thoubal District

On September 25 and 27, 2024, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted operations in Tekcham Maning and Phainom Village Pine Forest Plantation, recovering rifles, pistols, grenades, and ammunition. A major tragedy was averted when a 10 kg IED was neutralized along State Highway 18 in Saram.

Kangpokpi District

On September 27, 2024, operations in Loiching Ridge led to the recovery of rifles, pistols, grenades, and ammunition. Another operation on September 28, 2024, in Aigejang Ridge line area recovered more weapons and explosives.

Churachandpur District

On September 25, 2024, an operation led to the recovery of large, heavy, long-range country-made mortars and grenades. Another operation on September 28, 2024, in Songdoi recovered a pistol and a single barrel gun of Myanmar origin.

Imphal East District

Troops detected and diffused three IEDs weighing approximately 42.5 kg along the Tumukhong-Hungdum Tangkhul road near Maphital ridge.

Bishnupur District

On September 28, 2024, a search operation in Phoisenphai Village and Kwakta led to the recovery of mortars, submachine guns, rifles, pistols, grenades, and ammunition.
