Indian Ambassador Vinod K Jacob Inaugurates Odisha Tourism and ODOP Walls in Bahrain
Manama, Bahrain – Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Vinod K Jacob, has inaugurated the Odisha State Tourism and One District One Product (ODOP) walls at the Consular hall of the Indian Embassy. This event was attended by several members of the Odiya community living in Bahrain.
The walls showcase the tourist attractions and unique products from Odisha, identified under the ODOP scheme. A short cultural presentation and ‘Taste of Odisha’ culinary delicacies were arranged by the Odiya community for the occasion.
Ambassador Jacob, speaking in Odiya, thanked the community for their support in sourcing the ODOP items. He emphasized that the initiative aims to promote Odiya culture and Odisha as a tourism destination. The ODOP wall will be displayed for two and a half months, during which the Embassy aims to highlight Odisha’s rich history and welcoming people.
Ambassador Jacob mentioned that the Indian Embassy has organized similar events for other states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Karnataka. He urged the Odiya community in Bahrain to actively participate and take ownership of the initiative.
Under the ‘Focus state/union territory’ initiative, the Embassy promotes touristic and ODOP products of a particular state in Bahrain for around one month. Odisha is the fifth focus state featured at the State/Union Territory Wall in the Consular hall, following Rajasthan, Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka.
The ODOP initiative aims to select, brand, and promote at least one product from each district of the country to enable holistic socio-economic growth. The products are selected by States/UTs based on the existing ecosystem, export hubs, and GI-tagged products.
