Indian Ambassador Sibi George and PM Modi Celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day
On August 15, Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, hoisted the Indian flag at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo to mark the 78th Independence Day of India. During the ceremony, he read out the President of India’s address to the nation.
This event commemorates India’s independence from British rule, achieved on August 15, 1947. The Indian Embassy in Tokyo shared pictures of the event on social media, highlighting the celebrations.
In Singapore, the High Commission of India also held a flag-hoisting ceremony. The High Commissioner hoisted the national flag, and the event was shared on social media as well.
In India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi for the 11th consecutive time. After hoisting the Tricolour, he received a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ from the Punjab Regiment Military band, which played the National Anthem. The band was conducted by Subedar Major Rajinder Singh.
PM Modi greeted the nation on social media, saying, ‘Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!’ Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, he was received by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane. Following the flag hoisting, PM Modi delivered his customary address to the nation from the ramparts of the iconic monument.
