Indian Ambassador Prashant Agrawal Highlights Strong Ties with Laos

Indian Ambassador to Lao PDR, Prashant Agrawal, emphasized the positive impact of India’s Act East Policy on strengthening ties with Laos. He highlighted the shared cultural heritage and strategic collaborations in capacity building, training, and skilling.

Developmental Projects

Agrawal discussed various developmental projects, including infrastructure for electricity transmission, distribution, agriculture, and irrigation. He also mentioned the Quick Impact projects and the Center for Entrepreneurship Development.

Cultural Heritage

The Ambassador highlighted the restoration of the Vat Phou temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as a significant project representing the shared cultural heritage between India and Laos.

Digital Infrastructure

Agrawal noted India’s collaborative efforts in creating digital public infrastructure and achieving financial inclusion, which are widely admired in the region.

Security and Stability

He reiterated that Lao PDR sees India as a net provider of stability and security, welcomed by ASEAN member countries, including Laos.
