Indian Air Force to Showcase Amazing Air Show in Chennai on October 6
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to conduct a grand airshow at Marina Beach in Chennai on October 6 to celebrate its 92nd Air Force Day. Rathish Kumar VM, Air Officer Commanding at Tambaram Air Force Station, announced that the event will feature 72 aircraft, including top-of-the-line fighter jets like Tejas and Sukhoi Su-30MKI, as well as the Surya Kiran aerobatic team.
Theme and Highlights
This year’s theme is ‘Potent, Powerful, and Self-reliant,’ reflecting the IAF’s dedication to safeguarding India’s airspace. The airshow will include mesmerizing aerobatic maneuvers and synchronized formation flying, which can be viewed from beaches stretching from Kovalam to Marina.
Historical Significance
Air Force Day marks the official induction of the Indian Air Force into India’s armed forces in 1932. The day is celebrated annually in the presence of the Indian Air Force chief and senior officers. The IAF has been involved in major operations like Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus, and Operation Poomalai since 1950.
