Indian Air Force Rescues 94 People in Kedarnath Valley with Helicopters

On August 5, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully rescued 94 people, including children and patients, from the Kedarnath Valley. The rescue operations, which were initially delayed due to poor weather conditions, resumed and were carried out using MI-17 and Chinook helicopters. The rescued individuals were dropped off at Chardham helipad and Gauchar airstrips.

The Ministry of Defence shared on X that the IAF continues its rescue operations in Kedarnath, with Mi17 and ALH helicopters operating from Guptakashi and Chinook helicopters from Gauchar helipad.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has set up a medical camp in Gauchar to provide aid to those being rescued. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to the local people for their support in the rescue operations. He highlighted the contributions of various local leaders and villagers in assisting the administration.

Additionally, dog squads led by District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Nandan Singh Rajawar started search operations from Rambara to the Bhimbali area in Rudraprayag. By 9 am on Monday, 133 people had been safely airlifted with the help of MI-17 and Chinook helicopters and other small helicopters.
