Indian Air Force Rescues 201 People from Kedarnath Valley

The Indian Air Force airlifted 201 people, including 17 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, from the Kedarnath Valley to safe areas. They also delivered approximately 2000 kg of relief material to critical areas of the state.

Earlier, eight NDRF personnel and 94 people, including children and patients, were rescued from the valley. The rescue operations, which were hindered by poor weather, resumed with the help of MI-17 and Chinook helicopters. The airlifted passengers were dropped off at Chardham helipad and Gauchar airstrips.

The Ministry of Defence shared on X that the IAF continues rescue operations in Kedarnath, with Mi17 and ALH helicopters operating from Guptakashi and Chinook from Gauchar helipad.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked the local people for their support in the rescue operations. He praised the efforts of village heads, horse-mule operators, and various local organizations for their active involvement.

Dog squads led by District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Nandan Singh Rajawar started search operations from Rambara to the Bhimbali area in Rudraprayag. According to Uttarakhand Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, the rescue operation for passengers stranded due to heavy rains on July 31 is ongoing.
