India Wins T20 Series Against Zimbabwe

Abhishek Sharma Thanks Shubman Gill

Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma expressed his gratitude to skipper Shubman Gill and the team management for trusting his bowling skills after India’s series win against Zimbabwe. Sharma is working hard on his bowling and appreciated the support from the team.

Match Highlights

A fine four-wicket spell by Mukesh Kumar and a half-century by Sanju Samson were the highlights as India defeated Zimbabwe by 42 runs in the fifth and final T20I at Harare. This victory secured the series for India.

Sharma, who made his debut in this series, shared his excitement about debuting alongside his 2018 U19 World Cup teammate, Riyan Parag. He mentioned that they had dreamed of this moment during the IPL.

Despite not performing well with the bat except for a 47-ball century in the second T20I, Sharma showed great intent and hitting. He scored 124 runs in four innings at a strike rate of over 174 and took two wickets in the series.

Match Summary

Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to field first. India was at 40/3 until a 65-run partnership between Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag, along with a cameo from Shivam Dube, took India to 167/6 in 20 overs. Blessing Muzarbani was the standout bowler for Zimbabwe.

In the run-chase, Zimbabwe started well but fell short due to a game-changing spell by Shivam Dube and a quick run-out of Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza. Mukesh Kumar cleaned up the tail, and Zimbabwe was all out for 125 runs, losing by 42 runs.

Shivam Dube was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round performance, while Washington Sundar, who scored 28 runs and took eight wickets in the series, was awarded ‘Player of the Series.’
