India Wins T20 Series Against Zimbabwe: Shubman Gill Praises Team’s Hunger

Harare [Zimbabwe], July 14: After a thrilling 42-run victory against Zimbabwe in the fifth T20I, Indian captain Shubman Gill praised his team for their determination following a surprising loss in the first game.

India’s win was highlighted by Mukesh Kumar’s four-wicket haul and Sanju Samson’s half-century. Gill expressed his delight at the post-match presentation, saying, “Excellent series. I think the hunger that we showed after losing the first match was fantastic to watch. When we came here, not everyone had a lot of hits in the nets. We were not used to the conditions. The way we adapted (was great).”

India secured the series 4-1. In the final match, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to field. India was at 40/3 before a 65-run partnership between Sanju Samson (58) and Riyan Parag (22), along with a quick 26 from Shivam Dube, took them to 167/6 in 20 overs. Blessing Muzarbani was the standout bowler for Zimbabwe with 2/19.

During Zimbabwe’s chase, they started well but Shivam Dube’s crucial spell and a run-out of Zimbabwe’s captain Sikandar Raza turned the game. Despite efforts from Dion Myers (34), Tadiwanashe Marumani (27), and Faraz Akram (27), Mukesh Kumar’s 4/22 helped India bowl out Zimbabwe for 125, winning by 42 runs.

Shivam Dube was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round performance, while Washington Sundar, who scored 28 runs and took eight wickets in the series, was awarded ‘Player of the Series’.
