India vs Bangladesh Test Match in Kanpur Halted Due to Wet Outfield

The third day of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium was abandoned due to a wet outfield. Despite no rain, wet patches remained, especially near the bowler’s run-up area. The outfield could not be dried out even after the covers were removed.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on social media, “UPDATE Play for Day 3 in Kanpur has been called off due to wet outfield. #TeamIndia | #INDvBAN | @IDFCFIRSTBank”

The second day of the match was also abandoned due to rain. If India does not win this Test, their path to the ICC World Test Championship final in the UK will become more challenging. They will need to win upcoming series against New Zealand and Australia by larger margins.

India currently leads the ICC World Test Championship standings with seven wins, two losses, and one draw in 10 matches. The first day of the match saw limited play due to rain, with Bangladesh scoring 107/3. Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten. Pacer Akash Deep took two early wickets, and Ravichandran Ashwin also contributed with a key dismissal.

India won the first Test by 280 runs, with standout performances from Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah. India is currently 1-0 up in the two-match Test series.
