India Urges Peace Amid Rising Tensions in West Asia Involving Israel, Iran, and Lebanon

India Calls for Peace in West Asia

Concerns Over Escalating Tensions

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has expressed deep concern over the rising tensions in West Asia, particularly involving Israel, Iran, and Lebanon. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the importance of preventing the conflict from expanding regionally.

No Evacuation Plans Yet

Jaiswal confirmed that India is not currently conducting evacuation processes from Israel, Iran, or other nations. He stated, “We issued a statement expressing deep concern and called for restraint and the protection of civilians. It is crucial that the conflict is resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.”

Travel Advisory for Indian Nationals

India has advised its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran due to the worsening security situation. Those residing in Iran are urged to stay vigilant and maintain contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran.

Current Situation

The advisory follows regional instability caused by Iran’s missile attack on Israel, leading to military engagements between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Despite the tensions, flights from Israel, Iran, and other countries are operational, allowing people to leave if they choose.

Indian Nationals in the Region

Jaiswal provided details on the Indian population in the region: approximately 3,000 in Lebanon, 10,000 in Iran (including 5,000 students), and 30,000 in Israel, mainly caregivers and workers.
