The All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) is set to host the World Pickleball Championship (WPC) Series for the first time in India, from November 12-17 in Mumbai. AIPA President, Arvind Ramesh Prabhoo, expressed his excitement, calling it an honor for India to host such a prestigious event. The championship will feature around 650 players from countries like Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Poland, and Singapore.

Prabhoo highlighted the significance of this event as a recognition of AIPA’s 15 years of grassroots efforts to promote pickleball in India. The sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, is rapidly growing in popularity worldwide. The WPC Series aims to further popularize pickleball in India and beyond.

Under Prabhoo’s leadership, AIPA is working to gain recognition from the Indian government and the Sports Authority of India. The association, founded in 2007 by Sunil Valavalkar, has been affiliated with the International Pickleball Federation since 2015 and is a founding member of the Asia Federation of Pickleball.
