India Supports Nepal’s Flood Relief Efforts
Contributions from LIC Nepal, Nepal SBI Bank, and Oriental Insurance
In a show of support, the Nepal Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund received additional contributions from LIC Nepal Ltd, Nepal SBI Bank Ltd, and the Oriental Insurance Company Ltd from India. These contributions aim to assist victims of the recent floods and landslides in Nepal.
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu shared this news on social media, highlighting the solidarity between the two nations. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, expressed condolences and reiterated India’s commitment to aiding Nepal in relief and reconstruction efforts. He conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of support to Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, assuring that India stands with Nepal during this challenging time.
Heavy rainfall since late September has led to severe flooding and landslides, with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority issuing warnings for more rain in regions like Bagmati and Koshi. The disaster has resulted in 241 deaths, with 29 people still missing, as reported by the Armed Police Force.
