India Successfully Launches Agni-4 Ballistic Missile from Odisha

New Delhi, India – On September 6, 2024, India successfully launched the Agni-4 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha. The Defence Ministry confirmed that the launch validated all operational and technical parameters.

The successful test was conducted under the Strategic Forces Command. A Defence Ministry statement mentioned, “A successful launch of an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni-4 was carried out from ITR in Chandipur, Odisha on September 6, 2024.”

Earlier this year, on April 4, the Strategic Forces Command, along with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted a successful test flight of the next-generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. Officials confirmed that the test met all trial objectives, validated by data from various range sensors, including two Downrange ships at the terminal point.

Additionally, the first pre-induction night launch of the Agni-Prime missile was flight-tested in June 2023 by DRDO from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast.
