India Shines at Paris Paralympics with 29 Medals, Says Coach Satyanarayan

New Delhi, India – The chief coach of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), Satyanarayan, praised the Indian team for their historic performance at the Paris Paralympics, calling it a result of ‘teamwork.’ The Indian contingent finished their campaign with a total of 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals, the highest ever for the country in the competition’s history.

India’s previous best was at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where they won 19 medals. Satyanarayan highlighted the significant improvement in sports in India, attributing the success to the combined efforts of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Paralympic Committee of India.

Satyanarayan said, ‘This is a big achievement for para-athletes. Earlier, we used to get only one or two medals. We did not get any medals in 2008, but now we have 29. This is teamwork.’

The Indian para-athletic contingent brought home 17 medals, including four golds, six silvers, and seven bronze medals. Satyanarayan appreciated the systematic training and collective efforts of everyone involved, ensuring no complaints and everything taken care of.

This record haul also helped India surpass the 50-medal mark in the history of the Paralympics. A record 84 para-athletes represented India from August 28 to Sunday in 12 disciplines, compared to nine in Tokyo 2020. India also participated in new sports like paracycling, para rowing, and blind judo.
