Historic Performance by Indian Athletes

New Delhi, India – India’s Chef-de-Mission for the Paris Paralympics 2024, Satya Prakash Sangwan, praised the Indian team for their outstanding performance. The Indian contingent won a total of 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals, marking the country’s best performance in the history of the Paralympics.

India’s previous best was at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where they won 19 medals. Sangwan expressed his joy upon returning to Delhi, stating that the team received immense support in Paris and exceeded their expectations.

Support and Achievements

Sangwan highlighted the support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). He noted that the Indian team finished 18th overall, a historic achievement.

A record 84 para-athletes represented India in 12 disciplines, including new sports like paracycling, para rowing, and blind judo. This campaign also helped India surpass the 50-medal mark in Paralympic history.
