At the ongoing Paris Paralympics, Indian athletes have delivered outstanding performances. In the women’s 10m air rifle event, Avani Lekhara clinched the gold medal with a personal best score of 249.7 points. Mona Agarwal also made India proud by winning the bronze medal in the same event with 228.7 points.

In the men’s javelin throw F57 final, Praveen finished in eighth place with his best throw of 42.12 meters, which came in his fourth attempt. The podium spots in this event were taken by Uzbekistan’s Y Odilov (50.32 m), Turkey’s M Khalvandi (49.97 m), and Brazil’s Lins Nobre CV (49.46 m).

India has secured a total of five medals at the Paris Paralympics so far. Rubina won a bronze medal in the P2-Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final with 211.1 points. Javanmardi Sareh of Iran took the gold with 236.8 points, and Turkey’s Ozgan Aysel won the silver with 231.1 points.

On Friday, Avani Lekhara continued her winning streak by securing gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final. South Korea’s Yunri Lee won the silver medal with 246.8 points, while India’s Mona Agarwal bagged the bronze with 228.7 points.

India’s silver medal came in shooting, with Manish Narwal winning silver in the men’s P1 10m air pistol SH1 competition. Athlete Preethi Pal secured a bronze medal in the women’s T35 100m race, clocking 14.21 seconds, her personal best.

This year, India has sent its largest Paralympics contingent ever, with 84 athletes competing across 12 sports. This marks a significant increase in both participation and medal hopes, as India aims to surpass its previous achievements in Tokyo 2020, where the country won 19 medals, including five golds, eight silvers, and six bronzes.
