India Shines at Paris 2024 Paralympics with Record 29 Medals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Indian team for their best-ever performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, where they won 29 medals, including seven golds. This surpasses their previous record of 19 medals at Tokyo 2020.

Highlights of the Paris 2024 Paralympics

India’s achievements include:

The team of 84 athletes competed in 12 disciplines, setting multiple records and achieving several firsts for India.

Avani Lekhara became the first Indian woman to win two Paralympic golds. Sumit Antil defended his javelin title with a record throw. Dharambir and Parnav Soorma won gold and silver in men’s club throw, and Praveen Kumar set an Asian record in high jump. Harvinder Singh became India’s first archery champion, and Mariyappan Thangavelu secured his third Paralympic medal.
