India Tops Medal Tally at Junior World Championship in Lima

The junior Indian shooting team excelled at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, securing a total of 13 gold medals. On the final day, they added five more medals, including a gold in the junior men’s 50m pistol team event. Deepak Dalal, Kamaljeet, and Raj Chandra combined their scores to win against Azerbaijan by a single point. Mukesh Nelavalli also earned a bronze in the same event.

Individual and Team Achievements

In the junior women’s 50m pistol, Parisha Gupta won a silver medal, narrowly missing the gold to Hungary’s Miriam Jako, who set a new junior world record. The Indian team, including Sejal Kamble, Ketan, and Kanishka Dagar, secured a team silver in the same event.

Mixed Team Success

Shardul Vihan and Sabeera Harris won a bronze in the junior mixed team trap competition. Their combined score was just behind the Czech Republic and Italy, who took gold and silver, respectively.

The championship concluded with India leading the medal tally, followed by Italy and Norway. The next event, the ISSF World Cup Final, will be held in New Delhi, India.
