India Sends Haemo-Dialysis Machines to Papua New Guinea

India has taken a significant step in supporting Papua New Guinea’s healthcare by dispatching its first consignment of Haemo-Dialysis machines. This action fulfills a promise made at the third Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC III) Summit.

Details of the Shipment

The shipment includes 12 Haemo-Dialysis machines and portable Reverse Osmosis (RO) units. These were sent from Pipavav Port in Gujarat to Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea.

Official Statement

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, shared on social media, “Standing together with the Pacific Islands family. Fulfilling India’s commitment made at FIPIC III Summit, the first consignment of 12 Haemo-Dialysis machines with portable RO Units departed from Pipavav Port for Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.”

India’s Commitment to Pacific Islands

In May 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Port Moresby to co-chair the FIPIC III Summit. He highlighted India’s support for Pacific island nations, addressing challenges like climate change, health issues, and supply chain disruptions. PM Modi stated, “A friend in need is a friend indeed,” emphasizing India’s role in providing vaccines, medicines, and other essential resources to partner countries.
